After 12 weeks and over 334,000 votes cast for the various categories, such as Best Read, Best Lip Lock, and Best New Writer, the Teen Read Awards announced the winners on Saturday, September 25th. Books from the Hunger Games Trilogy were nominated in two categories: The Hunger Games in "Best All Time Fave" and Catching Fire in "Best Read". Though, Hunger Games was unsuccessful in beating Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows out for "All Time Fave", we are very excited to reveal that Catching Fire has won for "Best Read of 2010". Congratulations to Suzanne Collins and to Scholastic on the well deserved win!
It's wonderful to see "books" being honored by their readers, rather than just TV, Movies and Music. Let's hope the Teen Read Awards become an annual event.
You can read more about the event, all of the categories, nominees and winners in the press release and on the Teen Read Awards site.
