Well, it looks like the Capitol has arrived in Shelby, NC! A train car, at least, it seems. Graham Cawthon, a local journalist for the Shelby Star, noticed a piece of the set had come along a lot further than it was yesterday. See the pics below and video here.

It looks like the actor is about ready to bring to life Gale Hawthorne as he was seen sporting darker locks in Columbia with Miley Cyrus, last week.

Star, the Newspaper of Cleveland County, NC, reports that The Hunger Games is set to begin filming this Wednesday in Shelby.
Mike Bankhead, owner of Shelby Farm & Garden, said the operation thus far hasn’t affected business or drawn a lot of attention. The P&M Warehouse is located directly behind his shop, separated by a now closed road. “I hadn’t really seen anything,” Bankhead said, noting that the crew came into town about a week ago. “We walked around a little, saw some people out there.” But the road closures haven’t impacted business, he said, and no customers have come in asking about the movie. Crew members were seen carrying 2x4s beside a train car and working with hand tools Monday morning at the film site. Two Travelynx buses were parked nearby. 640 people will be able to be part of the book turn movies trilogy in the greatest way possible - being in it! According to Artemis Movie Casting's Facebook Page (responsible for local Hunger Games's casting):
"640 Fantastic Folks have been fitted and are ready to film with us over the next 2 weeks! Looking forward to seeing them all on set….and on the big screen." "Reminder -we will be filming until the end of August. Where are only beginning so don't count yourself out yet. There will many more calls to come later this summer." Hunger Games Trilogy has footage and pictures of what seems to be either the District 12 train station or could possibly be The Hob. Nevertheless, it's definitely belongs in District 12! “For over a month, Lawrence has been enduring a grueling training program consisting of archery, track work, stunt drills and yoga. She says that her archery coach, a four-time Olympian from Eastern Europe, spent weeks bemoaning her lack of skills. Apparently, it was only after the woman declared her “helpless!” that Lawrence gritted her teeth and hit the bull’s-eye. “What happened?” her coach cried in surprise. Lawrence turned to her and growled, her Southern accent making a rare appearance, “You pissed me off!” Source: Entertainment Weekly | via: mockingjay.net How exciting is this? The book is literally about to come to life! Here's an excerpt from the WCNC article:
Part of Henry River Road, a main artery in town, is scheduled to be closed until Thursday. Otherwise, Caudle said everyone has been tight-lipped about what’s going on. So, as tends to happen in small towns, much of the information is being passed around in the form of gossip. |
